About our Tiger-Cub and Juniors Programs

Tiger-Rock Martial Arts offers two programs for kids—the Tiger-Cubs program for early childhood development and the Juniors Program for elementary school-age kids. Students in these programs learn self-discipline, self-defense, life skills, and anti-bullying tactics in a fun and action-packed environment.

The Tiger-Cubs Program is offered to students ages 4 to 6 years old. This program is designed to bolster early childhood development. Students will learn the basics of taekwondo, acquire listening skills, and develop self-discipline.

The Juniors Program is available to elementary school students 6 to 10 years old. Students in this program learn martial arts exercises and forms, how to stand up to bullies, and self-defense techniques. Students improve their self-discipline, self-confidence, self-concept.

Patience

Patience

Patience

Patience is a virtue, which means patience is a sign of moral excellence. Students learn patience because it proves they have the skills to navigate this world. Additionally, patience is a morally important skill for everyone to have. Without patience, life would be much more difficult. So, students are taught only to ask once and avoid interruptions.

Share

Students must learn how to share throughout the rest of their lives. Nonetheless, Tiger-Rock Martial Arts attempts to teach them the basic fundamental of sharing. Success within martial arts requires patience. For that reason, Tiger-Rock instructors teach students how to take turns. We want them to respect their opponent as much as themselves.

Obey

Obey

Obey

In order for students to obey, they must first listen. After the listening skill is learned, students will move on to obeying. Tiger-Cubs will learn how to obey their parents—their mothers’ way and their father’s way. From there, students will learn how to obey their teacher and eventually the right way to complete a task.

Listen

Listen

Listen

Listening is a skill we all must learn to master. However, learning is much more critical for students within the Tiger-Cub program. 4, 5, and 6-year-olds are often listening to their parents, other family members, and teachers. Our instructors teach the life skill of listening by having students focus their eyes, mind, and their body.

Critical Life Skills

Critical Life Skills

The life skills your child will learn during the Tiger-Cubs program are critical to their development into teens and then adults. We have developed the Tiger-Cubs program around 7 skills: Listen, Obey, Learn, Share, Patience, Attitude, and Courage. Each skill is broken down by instructors for students to have the most exposure to them.

More Than Life Skills

More Than Life Skills

More Than Life Skills

The life skills we teach your child are more than just basic skills. Rather, these skills are the concrete foundation leading to greater capabilities. Your child will become a good citizen and a respectable person with the 7 skills we teach. The Juniors program receives some of the same training as our Tiger-Cubs.

Learn

Learn

Learn

Learning may not seem like a life skill, but the process of learning certainly is. We help students stay focused by keeping their eyes trained on who or what is teaching them. In turn, the focus of your child is improved. This skill translates to a greater capacity while in school. You may see improvements in your child’s schoolwork after the program.

Attitude

Attitude

Attitude

The attitude of youth can sometimes be hampered by progress to the lack thereof. Tiger-Rock Martial Arts wants to help students keep a positive and hopeful attitude. In doing so, students are able to overcome the obstacles in their way. A positive mentality helps stave off anxiety, stress, and depression.

Courage

Courage

It takes great courage to speak in front of a crowd, ask someone out on a date, or simply do something that scares you. Students within the Juniors program will learn how to gather the courage to overcome obstacles. The previous skill of attitude plays a large role in courage. Without the right attitude, you will not have the courage you need.

Applying Life Skills

Applying Life Skills

Once your child learns all 7 skills, they can use them across every front of their life. Tiger-Rock Martial Arts wants to teach more than just kicks and strikes. At the heart of Taekwondo and other martial arts, there is more than just a fighting style. There is also a set of values we want to pass on to as many students as possible.
